How did the Tokugawa Shogunate take control over Japan

Tokugawa Leyasu was a very important individual during the transition from Ashikaga to Tokugawa power because of the roles he played. After Toyotomi trying to seize power he passed away and that was when Tokugawa Leyasu decided to take the control during 1542 according to the governmental documents. But years later during 1603 the Emperor at the time gave Tokugawa the title of being a shogun. He accepted the role and remained a shogun until 1868, with his work as a shogun for nearly two and a half centuries its period got name of the ‘Tokugawa Shogunate’. During this time there was a big development in the social structure in Japan and conflict with the sammari’s and the daimyos. This was an effect on the public, which the shogun was the real leader of the whole country. Hence, this role that Tokugawa Leyasu had was very important during the transition from Ashikaga to Tokugawa.
